ABOUT
THE ARTIST
Anders Liljedahl was born i Stockholm where he was introduced to painting
at an early age by his father who was an active painter during his whole life.
When Anders was in his twenties he travelled around Europe for
three years. During this time he visited a lot of museums in different countries,
which subsequently became valuable experiences for his own painting. When
he returned to Sweden, he entered the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in
Stockholm where he studied between 1976-81.
Anders is mainly focused on the primary processes in his art.
He has been described as a colourist and a primitivist.
Anders is also
very interested in music and literature. In the last few years he has produced
a book in which he has put words to his paintings and verbalized the primary
processes. It will hopefully be published in the autumn of 2007.
One of the driving forces in Anders' Art is renewal and development,
which has brought him to test out other arts as well, such as sculpture.
Jung and the psychoanalyst Melanie Klein have been a big inspiration for Anders'
creativity as well as the painters Ernst Josephson, Carl Fredrik Hill and
the "Gothenburg colourists".
Besides painting, Anders likes to improvise on the piano and do
ceramics, when he's not strolling around in Stockholm gathering inspiration.
Anders has already exhibited in several galleries in Stockholm
and Öland.
