Born in Paris
Catherine Trägårdh is an artist who paints in a traditional yet very free and pleasurable spirit. Her inspirations are Bonnard and Agueli, a Frenchman and a Swede.
  When Catherine was nineteen years old she went to Sweden to "cure" her school fatigue and to enter the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Instead she ended up getting married and staying once and for all in Sweden to her parent's great regret…
  During her childhood in Paris Catherine was often taken to the Louvre and started manifesting artistic talents of her own. She enrolled in the art school Académie Julian.

As Catherine's family in Sweden grew, she has three children, her painting was put aside during some ten years. After this long period of inactivity her artistic streak started to blossom again with renewed strength - in a kind of explosion that resulted in a nearly physical need to paint. She enrolled in the art school Idun Lovén and exhibited her paintings for the first time in 1976 at the Gallery Händer in Stockholm. As Catherine is a very active artist, one exhibition soon followed another.
  In spite of her intensive painting Catherine also has other strings to her bow - she is a dedicated hand bookbinder and teaches this art on her farm in Björkvik, Sörmland, where she moved after 40 years in Stockholm.
