DIDIER MAZURU

It was inte the middle of the 1970s that Didier Mazuru, a Parisian architecte living in Sweden, began spontaneously to paint with a sponge dipped in diluted ink, whereafter he finished the painting with a brush or a pen.
After a while he left this technique and started to develop a style more based on architectural shapes. This resulted in various paintings that spontaneously associated to surrealism, with in the center the painting on loan "The irradiated player". This also paved the way for the next period, a large group of paintings entitled "In the ossuary of the dreams" (partly published in a catalogue at the exhibition), in the style that has mainly characterized Didier the last years and that has also served as an inspiration source for a fourth phase where his paintings have developed into a more abstract style.
In spite of this evolution Didier returns regularly to his original sponge technique, nowadays combined with the digital technology. The result is a collection of "marginal" paintings entitled "Eroded materia".
For the exhibition Didier Mazure has chosen unexhibited paintings from this collection, together with other unexhibited works from his main collection.
