EVA
MÅSÉN DUCKERT
Eva was
born in Gothenburg and grew up in a family where each member got their artistic
outlet from visual art, poetry, theatre and film. It is little wonder that
Eva has loved and found nourishment in art and culture since she was a child.
However she has also cultivated a genuine interest in social, political and
ethnic questions, which in the beginning led art to be pushed to the side.
In 1968 she began working for an international reconciliation organisation,
which led to many travels around the world.
In spite of her social commitment the urge to paint has always
been with Eva. Dramatic events in her life made her re-evaluate her priorities
and give painting a bigger place. She started to study drawing and free painting
in oil, pastels and watercolour and today painting is her main occupation.
Eva has been living in France since 1992. In the last few years
she has divided her time between France (Paris district), Sweden (Bohuslän)
and Sardinia. Today she stands with one foot in France and one in Sweden.
She has exhibited her paintings regularly since 2000, separate exhibitions
as well as collective exhibitions, mostly in France where she has collaborated
with a group of Swedish artists.
Eva is an advocate of the oldest technique in painting - tempera.
She paints exclusively in natural colours. It was at an icon painting course
in a monastery in France that she found her favourite technique, egg tempera.
Nowadays, she paints her own icons, pictures of the invisible - mostly abstract
with figurative elements. The colours are spontaneous and deep, the light
breaks through thanks to the darkness. The game between the paradox and the
challenge is provocative.
